Welcome to PlantCare: AI Identifier. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you download, install, access, or use the PlantCare: AI Identifier mobile application (the “App”).

Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you acknowledge the data practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide or create

Plant photos, identification, diagnosis, and care requests. When you choose to identify a plant, request plant health analysis, or generate a personalized care plan, you may take a photo with your camera or select a photo from your photo library. The selected image, relevant plant information, and information necessary to complete your request may be transmitted to our servers and service providers for AI processing.

Plant and care information. You may choose to save plant names, photos, notes, care preferences, watering schedules, reminder settings, identification results, and similar information. Depending on the feature, this information may be stored locally on your device or processed as necessary to provide the feature you request.

Installation identifiers. The App does not require you to create an account or sign in. It may generate or receive an app installation identifier or similar technical identifier to support App functionality, purchase status, usage measurement, security, and privacy requests. An installation identifier is not a registered user account and does not identify you by name.

AI consultation content. If you use plant consultation features, your questions, selected photos, relevant plant information, and conversation context are sent for processing so the App can generate a response.

Support information. If you contact us for support or feedback, we may collect your email address, message, attachments, and related correspondence so we can respond.

1.2 Automatically collected technical information

We and our service providers may collect limited technical information, such as device type and model, operating system and App version, language, region, time zone, screen information, IP address, app events, crash reports, error logs, performance data, and diagnostic information.

The App may use device-based identifiers such as IDFV, IDFA where permitted by your device settings, app-generated identifiers, attribution identifiers, an Apple Push Notification service token, and a server-issued user or installation identifier. These may be used for App functionality, analytics, attribution, notifications, subscription support, security, and fraud prevention.

1.3 Permission-based information

  • Camera: with your permission, the App may access your camera so you can photograph a plant for identification or analysis.
  • Photo library: with your permission, the App may access photos you select for plant identification, analysis, or your plant collection. The App does not need access to photos you do not select.
  • Location: if you enable location access for weather, the App obtains your coordinates and sends latitude, longitude, language, and time zone to our weather endpoint to retrieve local conditions. You can turn off location access in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
  • Notifications: with your permission, the App may send care reminders, watering reminders, and service-related notices. We may process your push notification token and reminder configuration to provide this feature.

You can manage these permissions at any time in your device settings.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • provide AI-assisted plant identification, AI-generated plant diagnosis, personalized care plans, care suggestions, consultation responses, care reminders, plant management, and other App features;
  • personalize AI-generated care information and recommendations based on the photos, plant details, questions, and preferences you choose to provide;
  • operate, maintain, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the App;
  • measure technical performance and understand aggregated usage trends;
  • deliver optional notifications when you enable them;
  • display subscription options, verify purchase status, restore purchases, and manage paid access;
  • respond to support, privacy, and feedback requests; and
  • prevent fraud or abuse and comply with legal obligations.

3. AI Processing and Generated Results

Plant identification, plant diagnosis, personalized care plans, care suggestions, and consultation responses may be generated using artificial intelligence and require online processing. When you choose to use these features, photos, questions, relevant plant information, conversation context, and your selected language are sent to our servers and third-party AI processing providers to generate the requested result. Images may also be uploaded to cloud storage to support these features.

When you actively submit a photo, question, or other content through an online AI feature, you request that the App transmit the selected content and related information for processing as described in this policy. You can avoid this transmission by not submitting content through those features, but the related AI result cannot be generated without the information needed to process the request. Camera or photo-library permission controls access on your device and is separate from the online processing of content you choose to submit.

We do not use submitted plant photos for behavioral advertising or sell them as personal information. Please avoid including faces, documents, precise location details, or other sensitive personal information in plant photos or consultation requests. AI-generated results may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or unsuitable for a particular plant, environment, or use case and should not be treated as professional horticultural, agricultural, medical, veterinary, toxicology, pest-control, or safety advice.

4. How We Share Information

We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate the App. Categories of service providers may include:

  • Apple Inc. for App Store purchases, subscriptions, StoreKit, push notifications, and device platform services;
  • analytics and attribution providers for measuring App performance, acquisition, feature usage, and subscription events using limited technical data, App events, and device or user identifiers where permitted;
  • diagnostics and performance providers for crash reporting, error analysis, service reliability, and security;
  • cloud storage, hosting, API, and infrastructure providers for storing submitted images, processing requests, delivering online features, and protecting the service;
  • third-party AI processing providers for processing selected photos, plant information, questions, and relevant context to generate plant identification, diagnosis, care plans, care suggestions, and consultation responses;
  • Weather service providers for retrieving local weather using the coordinates you permit the App to access;
  • notification and support providers for delivering optional notifications and receiving or responding to your requests.

Service providers may process information only for the services they provide to us. We require service providers that receive personal information to provide the same or an equivalent level of protection described in this Privacy Policy and required by applicable law.

We may also disclose information when required by law, regulation, legal process, or government request; to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the App, or others; or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or sale of assets, with notice where required.

Our core commitments: We do not sell personal information. We do not share plant photos with third-party advertisers. We do not collect payment card details; App Store payments are handled by Apple. Manual account registration is not required to use the App.

5. Tracking, Analytics, and Attribution

The App uses analytics and attribution tools to measure performance and understand how the App is discovered and used. Where required by Apple or applicable law, access to tracking identifiers such as IDFA depends on your permission choices. You can manage tracking permission in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

6. International Data Transfers

PlantCare: AI Identifier may be used in multiple countries and regions. Information may be processed in countries other than the country where you live, including countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards designed to protect information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing requested features, maintaining security, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations.

  • Locally stored plant records, photos, notes, care history, and reminder settings remain on your device until you delete them, reset related settings, or remove the App.
  • Photos, plant information, questions, conversation context, and AI request or result data transmitted for identification, diagnosis, care guidance, or consultation are retained by us and our service providers only as reasonably necessary to complete the request, maintain service security and reliability, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.
  • Support correspondence may be retained for a reasonable period to resolve requests and maintain business records.
  • Technical logs, analytics, attribution data, and diagnostics may be retained as needed for operations, security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, and App improvement.
  • Purchase and subscription records may be retained by Apple and by us as required for subscription access, tax, accounting, dispute resolution, or legal obligations.

You can delete locally stored information through available App controls or by deleting the App. Offloading the App is different from deleting it and can preserve its documents and data. Deleting the App does not automatically delete uploaded images, server-side information associated with an installation identifier, support records, or information held by service providers. To request deletion of personal information we control, contact us using the details in Section 13. Device or cloud backups may retain copies under your backup settings. We may retain limited information where required by law or for legitimate security, fraud-prevention, or recordkeeping purposes.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or portability of certain personal information, or to object to certain processing. You may also have the right to withdraw consent and to appeal or complain to a data-protection authority.

You may manage camera, photo, notification, and tracking permissions in device settings; manage subscriptions through your Apple ID settings; delete local content in the App where controls are available; delete the App to remove its local container data; and contact us to exercise an applicable privacy right.

We do not discriminate against users for exercising applicable privacy rights. We may need to verify a request before completing it.

9. Legal Bases for EEA and UK Users

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal information as necessary to perform our contract with you and provide requested App features; based on your consent, such as for optional permissions; for our legitimate interests in securing, supporting, and improving the App where those interests are not overridden by your rights; and to comply with legal obligations.

10. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 or the applicable minimum age in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. However, no electronic transmission or storage method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect legal, technical, or operational changes. The revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. Where required, we will provide additional notice.
